四名直接了解情況的貿易商稱,，中國檢疫機構上個月要求地方當局加強對高粱和大麥的檢查，檢測農藥殘留和重金屬等有毒有害物質,。

匯易將2014/15市場年度高粱進口量預估下調至160萬噸,，之前預估為390萬噸,。
另一位業(yè)內人士表示，已經預定或正運往中國的船貨可能不會有問題,，但在這份通知之后的預定船貨可能面臨麻煩,，并稱有些大買家已經接到加強檢查的通知。

China May Curb imports of U.S. Sorghum
According to Reuters, China has strengthened checks on U.S. sorghum shipments, and China may inhibit the US sorghum imports.
Four directly informed traders said Chinese quarantine agency last month asked local authorities to strengthen the inspection of sorghum and barley and to reinforce the detection of pesticide residues and heavy metals and other toxic substances.
A spokesman of Inspection and Quarantine Bureau declined to comment immediately.
China has rejected more than 1 million tons of the U.S. corns before, because they contain the GMO China has not yet ratified.
China’s feed mills are increasingly dependent on U.S. Sorghum, and regard them as a cheap raw material to replac domestic corn. Influenced by government’s support on agriculture, China's domestic corn price rises.
Zhang Yan, analyst of Shanghai JC Intelligence Co. said it is worried that a few months later sorghum imports may be reduced.
JC will put possible 2014/15 sorghum imports down to 1.6 million tons, but estimated sorghum imports before is 3.9 million tons .
Another industry source said, cargo that has been scheduled or cargo being shipped to China may not be affected, but cargo scheduled after this notice may face problems, what’s more, some big buyer has received the notice to strengthen inspection.
Reuters contacted some big buyers, and they said they take wait-and-see attitude towards further procurement of sorghum.
